This Week At Bungie 1/14/2021

Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/50006
This week at Bungie, we’re back in action.
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Since the last TWAB, you’ve gotten your hands on Hawkmoon. The Dawning has come and gone. Next-generation consoles received some wonderful enhancements. You’ve released a crow from their cage, and Lord Saladin watched as you decimated your foes with Stasis in the Iron Banner.
On the Bungie side of things, we took a breather. This last year has been full of challenges that none of us expected. Even through everything 2020 had in store, we were able to get Beyond Light and Season of the Hunt in your hands. This did come at a bit of a cost, though, and we needed some time to recharge our batteries for a new year. We have no doubt that 2021 will have mountains to climb and unexpected surprises, but we’re all excited to get back into the groove for a new year of Destiny development.
So, let’s get this party started. We’ve got four TWABs between you and a fresh Season of Destiny 2 content. You’re hungry for what we've got planned, and we’re eager to dish out the goods. First up, we’ll be looking at a few changes to vendors, Dreaming City and Moon rewards, and some sandbox tuning for Hunter Stasis abilities in the Crucible.

Rewards Update: Dreaming City and the Moon

Since the launch of Beyond Light, we’ve been collecting what feels like a metric ton of feedback on various Destiny systems. While we’ve shared some plans related to rewards, DDoS protection on consoles, crossplay and transmog, we have new details on rewards from two of our more recent destinations: The Moon and the Dreaming City. Rewards Area Lead Justin Dazet will be walking us through some changes in response to player feedback.
Justin: Last month, Assistant Game Director Joe Blackburn spoke about some changes we were making to gear in Season 13 in response to some feedback. Today we’re going to briefly chat about what some of these changes are as they relate to our back catalog of expansions, and the reasoning behind them.
First let’s review a list of what you’ll see starting in Season 13:
  • Reissued Dreaming City Reverie Dawn and Moon Dreambane armor.
    • These will also drop with high stats when earned in Shattered Throne or Pit of Heresy.
    • The final chest in Pit of Heresy will no longer drop a fully Masterworked Dreambane armor piece.
    • Instead, the Dreambane armor piece that drops will have 7 armor energy and is guaranteed to drop with at least a +16 in two different stats and higher stats overall.
    • Dreambane class items will not drop from this chest.
  • Reissued 4 weapons for Dreaming City with new Perk Pools.
    • Waking Vigil, Sleepless, Vouchsafe, and Retold Tale.
    • Dreaming City weapons that drop in the Shattered Throne dungeon can roll with perks that are unavailable from drops from other reward sources.
  • Reissued 4 weapons for the Moon with new Perk Pools.
    • Premonition (Pit of Heresy only), Heretic, Blasphemer, and Apostate.
    • Weapons that drop in the Pit of Heresy dungeon can roll with perks that are unavailable from drops from other reward sources.
  • Expanding Lost Sector Legend and Master rotation to 4 Moon Sectors.
    • K1 Logistics, K1 Communication, K1 Crew Quarters, and K1 Revelation.
We are making these changes to help preserve the relevancy of the destinations, specifically some of the pinnacle end-game activities that still exist there. To get more specific around the actual experience, activities where re-issues are acquired will be heavily weighted towards rewarding re-issued gear over capped gear -- though the exact weighting and mechanisms may differ. For example: In the Dreaming City if you have already obtained an infusion capped weapon, it will not drop for you again.
Image Link
While not every gear source or Legendary reward will be kept up to date for the entire lifetime these destinations are available, we do believe there’s high value in targeting some specific activity drops for continued relevancy to give you more options for where to spend time as you seek to improve your arsenal.

Turn in those Tokens

Since Destiny 2 launched, Guardians have been amassing vendor reputation tokens. These could be turned in for Legendary gear, which would usually be dismantled for Legendary Shards and materials. Looking to the future, the team is excited to update the ways in which you earn reputation with ritual vendors and the rewards that come from them. Dazet, back to you!
Justin: The rewards for continuous ritual playlist completion has been a subject that’s come up several times as we’ve looked over Beyond Light feedback, and we’re happy to announce some changes coming soon to Gambit, Crucible, and strike reward structure.
Firstly, we’ll be adding two new unique weapon rewards to each of the three playlist rituals (so six total across all three activities). These weapons are in addition to the ones added in Season of the Hunt, and continue to have a small chance to drop at the end of each activity.
Second, starting in Season 13 for Gambit and Crucible (Valor) and in a future Season for strikes, rank rewards will be visible on the ritual vendors. Each Season you’ll be greeted by a row of rewards, progression toward which will be earned automatically as you complete relevant playlist activities.
Instead of having rank rewards dropped automatically into your loot stream, they now will be picked up manually from the vendor lists. We feel this gives much better visibility into what you’ll be earning as you progress, and helps you make better choices about where to spend your time.
Image Linkimgur
Progression is on a per-ritual basis. You can be on Rank 10 for Crucible and Rank 4 for Gambit, for example. You’ll reset your rank right at the vendor by picking up the final reward.
Rewards for each individual ritual are as follows:
  • Rank 4: 3x Upgrade Modules
  • Rank 7: 3x Enhancement Cores
  • Rank 10: Seasonal Ritual Shader (changes to 3x Enhancement Cores after resetting your rank)
  • Rank 13: 2x Enhancement Prisms
  • Rank 16: Seasonal Ritual Emblem (changes to 2x Enhancement Prisms after resetting your rank)
  • Reset Reward: Ascendant Shard (changes to Exotic Engram after resetting your rank)
Every rank-up awards a base Ritual Engram just like before. Additionally, each of the above ranks also awards a Prime Ritual Engram.
Image Linkimgur
Due to this automated progression, Crucible Tokens and Crucible Token Gifts are no longer needed and will be deprecated into junk that will delete as a full stack starting in Season 13. So, cash those tokens in before the end of the Season, and get ready to earn some Masterwork materials!

Taking a pass: Revenant Shatterdive & Fissures

The conversation and feedback on rewards wasn’t the only thing we were tracking over the holiday break. Many of you have been spending time in the Crucible, experimenting with Stasis and all of the ways in which it can change the flow of a PvP match. Prior to the break, we had a round of tuning for Warlocks. Next up, we’re looking at Hunters, but also have some comments on our approach to future Stasis tuning as we head in to the new year. Please welcome Combat Area Lead Tomonori Kinoshita back to the TWAB to talk through our goals for Stasis abilities in PvP.
Tomo: Over the holiday break we saw Trials go live, and with that a wealth of valuable feedback from the community. Along with this feedback, we have been tracking data from Trials and identified some short-term changes, as well as more mid-term goals we are focusing on in the coming weeks and months.
Short term goal: Address outlier Stasis abilities to keep subclass decision making interesting.
  • Reduce the potency of Shatter Dive + Whisper of Fissures against Guardians, going live with Update 3.0.2.
    • Shatterdive
      • Now has damage falloff vs. unfrozen targets
      • Max range damage reduced from 50 to 5
      • Damage reduction during ability reduced from 50% to 25%
    • Whisper of Fissures
      • Reduced max-min damage vs. non-super players from 42-22 to 30-4
      • Reduced max-min damage vs. super players from 42-22 to 16-2
      • Reduced detonation radius vs. players from 10m to 9m
  • Investigate the efficacy of the Stasis Titan Behemoth Super. We want to let the above change settle to see where the Behemoth stands in our PvP hierarchy, but this is next on our radar.
Mid-term goal: Improve PvP subclass usage and win-rate balance.
  • Addressing Stasis ability outliers will help us lower the ceiling, but we also want to pull up other underperforming Light subclasses.
Mid-term goal: Review our ability-to-gunplay balance in PvP.
  • Destiny is a game about both explosive space magic moments and intrinsically satisfying gunplay. Especially in our 3v3 playlists, the usage of abilities has climbed as we introduce more and more ways to charge them quickly.
  • We’re still in very early discussions, but we’re looking into restoring a better balance where proper gunplay is rewarding in these playlists.
A few of you noticed that prior to our holiday break, we were able to get a few sandbox changes delivered faster than expected. Thanks to changes on Destiny 2’s backend and the Destiny Content Vault, our patch pipeline is indeed better than before! That said, some changes won't happen at light speed, as our team wants the appropriate time to collect feedback, check the data, and test proposed changes.
Once these changes have been validated, we’ll be eager to get you details via TWABs, blog articles, and more.

Worldwide Community

Sometimes, it can be difficult to think of how large the Destiny community has become since 2014. It seems no matter where you may be in the world, you might bump in to a fellow Hunter, Warlock, or Titan. Last year, we bolstered our efforts with the addition of two international community managers. Join us in welcoming a third to the team! Introducing our new Russian Community Manager, Ivan Yanyushkin.
Ivan: Privet!
My name is Ivan and I'm the latest community manager added to the team for Russian speaking Guardians. In Destiny 2 I enjoy making raids more complicated by doing them with fewer than six people and endlessly roaming around Europa on my Warlock, which for me is a meditating experience.
Some of you might know me from my past work at Blizzard Entertainment, where I worked as a community manager for different titles. This experience will help me, but I will also be thankful for your guidance. Feel free to reach out to tell me what works, what doesn’t, and how things can be improved for the Destiny community. One day, when real-life gaming events finally become possible again, I will be happy to meet you in person. But for now, let’s stay in touch on Twitter, VKontakte, and on the Russian Bungie Forums.
It’s an honor to work with such an amazing community. My job will be to pass the voice of the players to developers, help local content makers grow, manage Russian social media channels, and take care of many other duties. I’ll do my best to be Ivan the Great not the Terrible!
P.S. Hopefully one day I’ll even get used to the fact that Hydras explode after death :)
Spasibo.

UPCOMING RESOLVED ISSUES
Below is a list of some issues expected to be resolved with Update 3.0.2:

  • Some quest items were not dropping in the Moon Freeroam activity. This prevented completion of several "Essence" quests, such as Essence of Rage, Essence of Insanity, and Essence of Servitude.
  • The Unrelenting perk was not triggering health regeneration.
  • MIDA Multi-Tool's catalyst wasn't dropping from Competitive Crucible wins.
  • Taken Psions were replicating too rapidly in some Prophecy dungeon encounters.

  • Fixed an exploit where players could have "Shelter From the Storm" permanently applied in the Deep Stone Crypt raid.
  • Fixed an issue where Cloudstrike hits on the Divinity cage counted as two precision hits.
  • Fixed an issue where the Grandmaster Nightfall timer was set to 30 minutes.
  • Fixed an issue on PlayStation 5 preventing clan rosters from loading.
DUST AND ECHOES
Almost nine years ago, stats and files from our previous franchise, Halo, stopped getting updated on Bungie.net. Since then, all stats, files, and other data from Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach have lived on in remembrance at halo.bungie.net.
On February 9, the halo.bungie.net website will be taken offline permanently. Everyone is welcome to save their stats and files, however they can, if they'd like to save anything. Please keep in mind that our News articles, Forums, and Groups were imported into the current version of Bungie.net back in 2013.
KNOWN ISSUES
While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:
  • The Exotic Ship Reward from the High Celebrant mission is not properly showing that it is a “Rare” chance reward in the activity description. Chances for this reward increase with each activity completion.
  • Portals aren't opening when the High Celebrant leaves because the black orbs take no damage. Players can mitigate this issue by not using Sidearms and not shooting the orb as it immediately spawns.
  • Enemies in Crucible and PvE aren't colorblind-friendly when highlighted.
  • The Special Finisher mod no longer unlocks for new players.
  • Bomber mods don't work when Hunters have the Dragon's Shadow Exotic equipped.
  • The Overload Shot on Auto Rifles doesn’t proc if you hold down the trigger right after reloading, even though it does the Overload animation.
  • Some players receive the BIRD error code trying to get to the Wall of Wishes in the Last Wish raid.
  • Sometimes the Vault encounter in the Last Wish raid won't let you read icons nor spawn enemies after slamming on a plate or finishing a phase.
  • Sometimes Riven doesn't get stunned on the second level in the final encounter of the Last Wish raid.
  • The Forfeit Shrine Ascendant Challenge completion doesn't count towards the Ascendant Champion or Honed for Speed Triumphs, blocking the Cursebreaker Seal.
  • The Run the Gauntlet Triumph doesn't unlock when completing the time trial in the Cimmerian Garrison Ascendant Challenge.
  • Ahamkara Bones are missing in the Shattered Throne dungeon and multiple Ascendant Challenges.
  • Players will sometimes go into a Nightfall with 16 people when they try loading into the Tower.
  • Sometimes dialogue gets cut off at the end of a Wrathborn Hunt.
  • For Hunters using the Way of the Warrior subclass, Combination Blow sometimes stops working and doesn't give Gambler's Dodge back.
  • Non-Exo characters are receiving Exo specific dialogue on Europa.
  • The Light of the Dawning emblem cannot equip stat trackers.
  • The Coaxial Bonds ornaments for Ophidian Aspect causing the bottom-left of the screen to glitch/flicker.
For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

Open Letter To CrunchyRoll and Cygames

YouTube video w/ more evidence: https://youtu.be/Xn7_uEpU_M4 For those that think it doesn't matter: fellow competitive player that spent time and money got booted from top 5 to 5 fucking thousand in rankings
Hey everyone, Tim here. I originally did not plan on making this post until a few weeks later but as my guild and the community started bleeding out players, I feel the need to share my thoughts on Crunchyroll and the current state of the game. The recent announcement for Mass of the Dead shutting down was another contributing factor.

Disclaimer: I love Princess Connect. I would not have a long-ass rant on something I didn't care about. I'd rather see the game succeed and get supported by whales and waifu lovers. In terms of experience, I've been in the top CN CB environment since its launch in April 2020. There are many things CN and other servers did right so I'm drawing the comparison here.
The Good:
  1. Global Release - First off, CR managed to bring and localize princess connect to the western community. Kudos! Contrary to people's initial skepticism, we didn't get additional censorship compared to the non-DMM version of the game.
  2. Pity and Monetization- We managed to get the pity/spark system right away during Jun banner. This makes a huge difference for f2p and dolphins and allows them to keep up with the meta with proper planning. There were no p2w packs unique to global and the jump start gacha was also a once only.
Overall, the game remained faithful to its original. However, that's pretty much all the good things I've had to say
---
The Bad
  1. Communication - I was tempted to put the hacking issues as #1 but IMO communication is actually the worst component so far. Our only sources of news/communication from Crunchyroll currently stems from
a) Twitter posts
b) in-game news
c) emails to pre-registered emails
When Jun was released, the Twitter post came AFTER the Jun banner was already live in the game. Similarly, the Grotto x2 tweet was late as well. Yes, I've been spoiled by CN release schedules where they tell you 2-4 weeks in advance but at least provide the updates on time or 1-2 days beforehand. We have no clue when clan battles are happening and what to expect event wise. It also doesn't help that CR has copy-paste replies to emails. More on that in the next section.
2) Hackers - cheats/mods are common in Princess Connect. After all, the 2018 game still runs client-side calculations for damage reports. However, other servers have installed anti-cheats to ban modders in arena and clan battle. We've noticed a surge of cheaters near the end of softlaunch. We've been active in contacting CR and reporting those hackers with evidence. We even created a google doc with confirmed cheats and UIDs and yet the replies we've received are copy-pastes. There's no open acknowledgement and the same hackers are still active and cheating to this day.
3) Softlaunch – I am still not sure what the softlaunch was for. It didn't really help with any bug testing as full release still had the premium mana issue and cheaters. It allowed players (myself included) to get miles ahead vs the full release players. And the lack of content also burnt a lot of the Day 1 players out. I won't comment too much on this as I may never find out the reason behind this.
All of these have caused players to burn out, quit or refund the game. It pains me to see this happen as someone that really loves Princess Connect and have been recommending the game to the community. Hopefully Crunchyroll can take the follow suggestions to improve the game.
---
The Fixes:
  1. Communication - Please communicate events well in advance. CR clearly is invested enough to share news about HoloLive collabs DAYS in advance. It'd be great if they can do the same for in-game events. Currently, someone that checks the game every now and then will have more on-time updates than the Twitter feed.
They should also send a community managerep to facilitate communication. This might be a stretch but they players just need a point of contact with responses other than automated email replies.
2) Dealing with Hackers - Cygames needs to install anti-cheat systems and ban those that have used cheats. At the very least, acknowledge the fact that cheats exist and they are taking action against it. I've had whales in the guild quit / refund due to the fact that a lv 48 Yuuki can just snipe him out of rank 1 a minute before reset. All these cheaters are then taking those accounts with gems earned from Arena to sell on various sites. We waited during soft launch thinking that full release means CR will take action soon. But at this point, competitive players are quitting because they don't want to stick around till CB if nothing is being done.
---
Thanks for reading thus far if you stuck around. Just wanted to rant and share my thoughts. I know the majority will just move on to a different game and continue the gacha cycle. But for those that wishes the best for Princess Connect, I hope you stick around and that CR takes this feedback to improve the game.
I'll be emailing this to Crunchyroll as well and Cygames.

🚀🚀🚀Dirty Tactics and You: What comes next, and why you should keep holding through it all 🚀🚀🚀

---Important Edit---

The mods have made a post explaining much more thoroughly the risks that are actually involved. I recommend everyone look at it and understand just how things can result in everyone getting nothing.
------------------------------------
First off, I am not a financial advisor and currently hold shares in GME. I stand to gain or lose from this as much as anyone else invested in GME at this time.
I'm seeing a lot of talk about the mind games at play here. The important one to note is that many billionaires and talking heads are making this to be the day that makes or breaks us. This is not true. As explained in several other posts there is still plenty of time for them to cover, and it will take them days to do so. This may not even end next week.
**DO NOT SELL TODAY*\*
It's the end of the month. People need to pay rent. Many people have everything they're worth riding on this. They will say and do everything they can today and this weekend to scare you, and make you want to exit with the gains you have. This is one of only many potential plays they have. Here is a list of other things to come:
**Coordinated downtime of various brokers*\*
We've already seen this. Be prepared for Robinhood and their window-licking collective to throw their hands in the air and say "Woops, trade volume crashed our services, sorry kids!" The upside here is that you can't sell if things are frozen, but they'll tank the price while it's down to make you panic over potential losses and pressure you into selling when the app recovers.

**Blatant Lying on Positions*\*
One of the main resources we have been using to track where we are in all of this is % of float shorted. If people decide to start lying about these numbers there isn't much to stop them. They have the ability to do so, it's on us to confirm with numbers whether or not that's true. If Shitadel/Marvin/Anyone Else decides to start making up numbers they'll try to convince everyone they're already out of their positions. When they do that, the media will start blaring horns about "Unnatural meme stock prices". Again, we've already seen this with various shithole news outlets and talking heads.
**Forced Sell Limits*\*
Sell limits are important, and to be honest I don't know enough about how they're managed by the algos to say exactly what effects they have on automated services. They're so important, that RH and other brokers are rejecting limit sells at what they consider unreasonable prices. This is also a scare tactic. What happens if things sky rocket but you can't login to make your sell at a real price? Better make it something more reasonable for those big boys in suits to pick up, something under $10k, right?
Fuck you, HOLD!
They can't do this forever. Retail holds a very large amount of available shares, and they will need the vast majority, if not all of them, to cover their positions. WE GET TO MAKE THE PRICE. GME GO 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀
Realistically, I know there are people here that put in their net worth and don't want to hold forever. 5 shares at $5000, $6000, or even $9000 is life changing money for them. I understand this. But the potential is there for this to go much, much higher. We now hold all of the cards, the chips, the blow, the table, AND THE HOUSE! They're looking to buy back in. We get to name the price. Don't miss that opportunity.
Once again, I'm just some dude on the internet. Don't use this as financial advice. But also
🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 GME 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀 🚀🚀🚀

TL;DR
Bad people are bad. They will lie, they will cheat, they might even steal. They will threaten you. They will scare you. The strongest defense you have is to HOLD AND KEEP HOLDING! They are desperate and you are winning.
I genuinely believe in the new business model of Gamestop and wish to see it succeed.

-Important Edit-
You will see posts from people claiming horrible, terrible things happened to their accounts, or were reported by news articles. No matter what the claim, even if they have a screenshot 'confirming', wait for more people to source this and verify. They have joined the masses and are doing their best to spread false information. I speculate some screencaps we've seen have been photoshopped or source edited.

Whats your favorite Construction Game (What should i buy next)?

Hey all,
As an automotive prototyping/concept car engineer i really have a real preference to construction different machines or vehicles in Computer Games.
While in reality it is so damned time-consuming to plan, design and implement new vehicle concepts, computer games make it so much more motivating and really easy to create impressive or crazy results.
So i'm looking for a new game were i can create new and impressive vehicles like cars, boats, air crafts, space shuttles etc.
This is my current Top 5 and what i like at these games:
  1. Main Assembly (Steam) : This is current my hidden favorite. The graphic is cute and I really love the intuitive freeform building and the easy graphical programming interface. Other Bonuses are the cool destruction system, the Multiplayer-Support and the very fast and easy Map Editor in which you can create race, stunt or battle tracks in a few minutes. Together with other players during a running game.
  2. Stormworks: Build and Rescue (Steam): The graphic is simple(low-poly) but the weather effects and storms are top-notch. It has a very extensive block based building system and also a graphical programming interface with addtional LUA-Support. Other important points are many different missions, Multiplayer-Support and the Random World Generator. Unfortunately no damage model.
  3. Space Engineers (Steam): I love these gigantic planets which you can explore and the possibilty to play in a mature Survival mode where you can Build up your new base from scratch (with a Team in Multiplayer). And i love this incredible Space feeling with the light effects. But the block building system is sometimes a bit limited, the programming interface allows only Scripting without any code highlighting and the whole Ship/Space Station/Inventory-Management is very inconvenient in my opinion.
  4. Besiege (Steam): This game has a really cool graphic style and a superb destruction physic that also works very well in Multiplayer. Also the Editor is, similar to Main Assembly, very inuitive and you can easy create fighting arenas or race tracks. The building system is blocked-based and intuitive, but apart from a few logic or sensor blocks there is no vehicle programming possible.
  5. Scrap Mechanic (Steam): It's a more technical version of Minecraft and i love the new survival mode with the huge procedural map. Also the Multiplayer Mode is very cool and the block based building system for vehicles where you can build together is really easy. But the physics is a bit weird or laggy at times and the the programming possibilites to the logic blocks are also kept a little too simple.
These games i currently have on my wishlist but haven't bought/played it till now:
Which game would you buy in my place? And why?
Dou you maybe know a game that I don't have on my screen?
Best Regards

Advanced-Kind Is A New SMP Towny Server
That is probably one of the most overused server descriptions in Minecraft Multiplayer history, but this server is far more than that. We aim to create a gameplay experience that is centered around Towny and its community creation capabilities. We plan on bringing Towny to the modern Minecraft server scene, with all the features we have grown used to and some more. But we will also keep balance as our goal. Access to plugin commands and functions will be tailored to enhance the gameplay without killing the difficulty of the game. The best way to describe our approach to gameplay would be Vanilla+.
One Beautiful World
We have a fully rendered custom generated world that will bring Towny and player creativity to new heights. No client-side lag, and no server-side lag. The most beautiful beaches you have ever seen, surrounded by awe-inspiring mountains and brought to life with lush forests to get lost in. All while still feeling like a Minecraft world.
Rethinking the Towny-Economy
The players drive the economy. No Admin shop, no P2W features. However, there is another, very important, agent in Advanced-Kind’s economy. The cities themselves. Towns will be able to choose from a variety of production centers to build and upgrade over time as their population grows.
Mines, sawmills, farms, and much more. All unique advantages to living in a town, custom coded, and exclusive to our server. They will provide a source of regenerative resources that will re-balance gameplay around them.
Those who wish to explore the world in search of resources will still be able to, but as time passes towns will grow in production capacity while natural ores dwindle.
An Open Community
Advanced-Kind was started by Towny veterans and it's intended for both dedicated Towny & Factions players and for anyone looking for a welcoming community. We are open about our policies and actively seek feedback. With a well-organized ticket system and feedback channels, you'll always have a place to express your opinion.

[Suggestion] A few suggestions for new content and mechanics

Multiple Suggestions for new Content:

Foreword

I want to just disclaim that I have read Stuff you won't see in Botania, and mention that I understand that there is a section on a FAQ somewhere mentioning that Botania is considered feature-complete. Despite this, I asked where the best place to post suggestions for Botania is on Vazkii's Discord prior to making this thread and I was pointed here by one of Botania's maintainers. Botania has also received many new features since that FAQ was posted, so I assumed that it was fine to post a list of suggestions. Even if these suggestions do not ever find their way into Botania itself, I figured the list would be useful for addon developers looking for ideas.

Introduction

These are just some ideas I’ve had floating around in my head to solve a few rare pain points I’ve come across when using Botania. I have tried my best to keep these suggestions constrained to Botania’s essential design philosophy, but if you spot anything that may be out-of-line, please make a comment pointing it out and I’ll try to revise it.

New Flowers:

Functional Flower: The Daffomil Petite

It's a normal Daffomil, but a Petite variant. It has a range of 1x8.

Generating Flower: The Beegonia

The Beegonia (a play-on-words taken from the real-world Begonia) generates very minute amounts of mana by “eating” naturally-spawned Bee Nests. It is Elven-Tier, requiring Pixie Dust in it’s recipe. It does not generate enough mana to be viable for mass production. The main use case is to prevent Bee Nests from spawning. The introduction of bees introduced a new mechanic, where saplings have a rare chance to grow into trees with Bee Nests attached when the sapling is in close enough range to a flower. This can potentially break certain tree farm designs, so the Beegonia would be a way to easily work around the problem and gain a slight bit of efficiency out of the farm.

Functional Flower: Labelia

The Labelia is a new flower that automatically names items. It scans for any named Name Tags and any number of item stacks within it’s range. When it finds these, it will consume one named Name Tag per item stack, applying the name of that Name Tag to that item stack (as if that item stack were named in an Anvil). For an item stack to be named, it has to have existed in the world for at least three seconds. The flower can be disabled with a Redstone signal. This is meant as an aid for the new dynamic Corporea Spark / Paintslinger Lens mechanics, so that players can make more effective use of dynamic spark networks.
An example: Player makes a Shulker Box loader that fills shulkerboxes with Cobblestone and sends the Shulkerboxes to a Labelia to be named "Cobblestone Shulker". The shulkerboxes are stored in an orange network, while regular Cobblestone is stored in the blue network. The player can then press a button that dynamically switches the color of the spark on the Corporea Index between blue/orange. Depending on the selected color, a request for "cobblestone?" will return either regular cobblestone or shulkerboxes full of cobblestone.
Another example: Player can have a system to auto-name Enchanted Books that they feed into specific dump chests. The player can then search for "Feather Falling" and get the Enchanted Book they want, which previously wasn't possible without renaming each book manually.

Functional Flower: The Hollyhock

The Hollyhock (a real flower IRL, but the closest I could find to “Hopperhock”) is a more advanced alternative to the Hopperhock. It is an Elven-Tier flower, and unlike the Hopperhock, it always requires mana to operate. It performs the same function as a Hopperhock, but allows for matching on vanilla item tags, attributes and categories. If an adjacent inventory has multiple Item Frames on it, the Hollyhock will look at those Item Frames and find an attribute commonly shared by each item in each Item Frame. For example, placing an Oak Sapling and a Birch Sapling into Item Frames on an adjacent inventory will cause the Hollyhock to pick up any item with the tag “minecraft:saplings”.
This adds a little more utility to the item logistics problem, allowing players to essentially pick up items that fit into a particular category. The limitation is that it will only match on one common attribute shared between items. The Manaseer Monocle should indicate what the currently matched tag is. Like the Hopperhock, the Hollyhock can be configured by right-clicking with a Wand of the Forest. Doing so will cycle between blacklist/whitelist. To illustrate, if the Hollyhock is framed with a Sharpness I enchanted Diamond Sword and an Enchanted Book with Sharpness I, the available attributes for selection should be:
The attribute “Is in Group Combat” would not be available, because the Enchanted Book does not fall into that category. Whichever shared attribute is chosen is determined by which attribute occurs most frequently. In this case, there are 3 common attributes, with an equal distribution, so whichever one is chosen by the Hollyhock is anyone’s guess (i.e. random), but the player can influence the chosen attribute by attaching more Item Frames to skew the distribution in a particular attribute’s favor. Let’s see what happens when we introduce a third item, an Enchanted Book with Fortune III:
Notice that the specific enchantment has disappeared, because Sharpness and Fortune aren’t a common attribute. Let‘s say we want to match the “Is Enchanted” attribute 100% of the time, so in order to do that we need to get rid of the other attributes. We can do that by attaching a stackable item to an item frame, like Cobblestone. So, now our selection is:
To get rid of the “Is Added by Minecraft”, we just take any item from Botania and stuff it into an Item Frame, so now our Hollyhock will match only enchanted items.

New Blocks/Items:

The Fuzzy Frame

This is a variant Item Frame, with alternative behavior. Normally, Hopperhocks will match an Item with an adjacent Item Frame by comparing the tags of the item in the frame with the picked up item using the ItemStack.areItemTagsEqual method. This works pretty well for 99% of cases. The Fuzzy Frame will behave differently. Instead of matching by tags, it will tell the Hopperhock to match the item by name. This opens up a few edge case solutions for different sorting logic, and also provides the player with a useable workaround for cases where other mods modify tags (looking at you, Astral Sorcery and Milk Buckets).
Corporea Funnels will also look at Fuzzy Frames and request items by name, instead of a tag match.
Corporea Interceptors will also look at Fuzzy Frames and emit a Redstone pulse when a request containing that name fails.
This is a new addition to this thread of suggestions. Originally, this behavior was included in the "Alias Frame" section below, but I felt like the Alias Frame did way too much, matching by name and signifying item sources to Corporea. I have to give credit to u/Zieg777 for the Fuzzy Frame idea.

The Alias Frame

This is is a variant Item Frame, with alternative behavior. Hopperhocks will simply ignore this Item Frame, but it has a special interaction with Corporea Sparks. A Corporea Spark will look at the container below it for any Alias Frames, and if it finds one, it will use the name of the item in the Alias Frame as an indicator that items with that name are stored in this container. A player could use this mechanic to "teach" their Corporea network that this particular chest has "Feather Falling" enchanted books, and that another chest has "Sharpness" enchanted books. Currently, Corporea has no method of discerning between the different types of Enchanted Book. Both Sharpness and Feather Falling are simply called "Enchanted Book".
This is an idea taken from u/scratchisthebest's 1.12 mod Incorporeal, which adds a similar mechanic via a Red String block called the Red String Liar.

The Corporea Halo

This is an upgraded version of the Assembly Halo, with the exact same behavior, except it will also source recipe ingredients from the Corporea Network if the player happens to be standing in range of a Corporea Index. It will also relay recipe ingredients from the Corporea Network to a Manufactory Halo if one exists in the player’s inventory (to facilitate large batches of semi-automated crafting), a behavior that can be toggled/activated with a shift-right-click. Unlike the Assembly Halo, this Halo costs a small bit of mana for each craft, regardless of if the player is using it for regular crafting or not.
An interesting property of the Corporea Halo is that if the output item already exists in the Corporea Network, then it will simply be requested from the network directly, and crafting ingredients won’t be used. This is meant as a more pure Botania-immersive mechanic to requesting items than pressing “C” in JEI, but it only ever requests 1 at a time, thus not invalidating the JEI interaction.
If an input ingredient required to perform the craft does not exist in the Corporea Network, then the Corporea Halo will submit a Corporea Request for that missing ingredient automatically. It is then up to the player to decide how that request is handled (Interceptors, Retainers, etc).

Warded Platforms

One issue with Corporea is that it is a global inventory system and thus, any player can access it. A good workaround for this in the pre 1.13 era was to use Thaumcraft’s Warded Stone as a way to “protect” your Corporea Index from other players. I find this to be more “in-spirit” with Botania because a) Botania used to have Thaumcraft integration and b) It encourages player-focused room design (as an alternative to the “Bind security to the player’s account” mechanics other mods use). Since Thaumcraft is no longer a thing, I feel it’s time to address this issue within Botania itself.
I’d imagine this fitting into the same category as Abstruse and Spectral Platforms, perhaps an upgraded version that sits between Spectral and Infrangible. An Infrangible Platform is creative-only and cannot be broken except in Creative. A Warded Platform can be broken, but only by the player that placed it. It is resistant to explosions by Creepers, TNT, the Wither, and cannot be pushed by Pistons. Unlike the Infrangible Platform, it is not immune to the Ender Dragon.
It can be disguised as another block, just like all the other platforms.
It shares the same property of Spectral Platforms in that entities can pass through it, but only if the entity is the player that placed it and they’re holding their sneak key.
One concern that comes to mind is that this gives the player an easy way to farm the Wither. If this is unwanted, then it can be addressed by adding a special exception allowing the Wither to pathfind through it in addition to the owning player holding the sneak key.
Another concern is multiple players being given permission to walk through the same Warded Block (like two players sharing the same base, for example). I think it is safe to ignore this concern, as both players can simply just build their own Indexes and connect the two to the same network, then each player can build their own wards around their respective Index.

The Rod Quiver

This suggestion probably deviates the most from Botania's philosophy out of all the suggestions on this list, but hear me out.
This is an item that behaves just like the Trinket Case, but for Rods and the Wand of the Forest.
I would like to see a mechanic to quick-swap the currently selected Rod, but I'm also fine with just having it be a little storage box.
I understand that the Hand of Ender can be used for this purpose, but that only works to a certain degree, or in the early game.
My playstyle eventually gets to a point where I am quite literally loaded with all sorts of nonsense.
I fill my inventory with Black Hole Talismans, a Manufactory Halo (for compressing things into blocks to go into a Black Hole Talisman), a Mana Mirror, a trinket case, a Mana Blaster and the rest of my kit, and I fill my Hand of Ender with Shulkerboxes.
There comes a point at which I don't have enough space for more than just one Rod, so I put them in one of my Ender Hand Shulker Boxes. This makes them very inconvenient to access.
A Rod Quiver would be an awesome solution to this. Perhaps it could be another Gaia Relic?

New Mechanics:

Red String Spoofers can bind to Flower Pots

This is a purely decorative mechanic. Right now, Red String Spoofers can only point at flowers or mushrooms. It would be nice if they could also recognize a Flower Pot that has an item (flower, mushroom, dead bush, cactus, etc) in it as a valid target.

Rosa Arcana can be toggled off with Redstone

This would require a recipe change to make it use a Redstone Root, but now that the Rosa Arcana can disenchant items, it would be neat to be able to toggle it off. While off, it will still disenchant items, but it will not absorb experience or generate mana. This is so the player can use some of the experience for themselves.

Crafty Crates "select" output from an adjacent Item Frame

One problem with the modern modded Minecraft meta is that of conflicting recipes. In the past, packmakers were diligent and fastidious - they thanklessly used CraftTweaker or similar utilities to handle conflicting recipes. These days, things are a bit different.
The current meta is "ignore the conflict and install Polymorph". The problem with this meta is that it completely ignores autocrafting! A device that performs a crafting recipe without player involvement does not have the liberty of pressing that quirky little Polymorph "change-recipe-output" button.
In fact, the only autocrafting mechanism I'm aware of that actually can choose from multiple outputs is the Integrated Crafting system associated with the Integrated Dynamics suite of mods, and AE2/RS have the foundation for choosing a particular output with patterns, but how it actually behaves is anyone's guess.
I think it would be a massive QoL boost if the Crafty Crate could "choose" outputs when there are conflicting recipes.
I'd imagine it'd be as simple as checking an attached Item Frame for the chosen output. If there are concerns about how this would impact Hopperhocks placing items into the Crafty Crate, then an Alias Frame could be used instead.

Lecterns interact with Corporea Funnels

When a Lectern is placed adjacent to a Corporea Funnel, the Corporea Funnel will play the request written on the active page of the stored book when given a Redstone pulse. The request in the book follows the same syntax as player-made requests on the Corporea Index. This opens up a whole new level of balanced Corporea-based logic, as vanilla Lecterns output a strong 1-tick Redstone pulse each time a page is turned, and they output a Comparator signal indicating the currently active page. Observers can also detect the state of when a book page is turned inside a Lectern. The keyword "this" in the book will refer to the item placed in the Funnel's Item Frame if there is one.
This idea is inspired by an already existing mechanic that Alwinfy made me aware of: When you request “all *" from a Corporea Index, it makes a request for 2.47 billion of every item stored in the network. This request always fails, and can be ping-ponged between two Corporea Retainers sharing the same Interceptor to effectively always summon every item in a network to the location of the Corporea Index, making for a good “dump chest” system when attached to an item sorter. While the idea is cool, I’m not sure the mechanic is intended and it feels a little bit “wrong”. I’m sure there’s also some performance issues associated with that 2.47 billion number but I don’t know for sure.
This new Lectern mechanic is basically the same thing, but gives the user the ability to automate any request shape and size, and behaves in a more predictable fashion as an intended mechanic.

Livingwood Avatar can Right-Click Redstone Components

Currently, a lot of the Livingwood Avatar's functions are dwarfed by better and/or alternate implementations of those functions elsewhere in Botania. For example, a Livingwood Avatar using a Rod of the Skies sounds great, but it isn't practical when I carry a Rod of the Skies in my inventory anyway, or have the ability to fly with the Flugel Tiara. I like using them to help friends better traverse my base, or for some rare moments where I don't have flight or my Rod of the Skies, but for the most part I use them only as a novelty, meaning I hardly ever have an actual practical reason to use the Livingwood Avatar.
I think a cool use case for them would be the ability to perform a single generic right-click action when given a single mana burst from a Pulse Mana Spreader, but in order to make that meaningful and not OP, limit it specifically to Redstone components.
So, it can dynamically set the delay on a repeater, turn the page of a book in a lectern, flip a lever on/off, press a button, switch the mode of a comparator, rotate an item in an item frame, etc. However, it cannot activate a Mana Enchanter, use a tool, right click a chest, etc.
This would honestly open up a whole new world of possibilities with Botania, especially when combined with Corporea (the rotating item frames part, and the previous suggestion on lecterns). The possibilities of this are so powerful (while still not OP) that it may even need to be an upgraded variant, perhaps a Dreamwood Avatar.

New Configuration Options:

"Hard Mode" Crafty Crate

Enabling this option makes it so that the Crafty Crate requires a minute amount of mana per item crafted. This is meant for expert-style gameplay, incentivizing the player to boost their mana production for end-game stock keeping and autocrafting.
This idea is taken from u/scratchisthebest's mod 1.12.2 mod Botania Tweaks, which has an identical config setting.

"Hard Mode" Passive Decay

Enabling this option makes all generating flowers decay in addition to the Hydroangea. This is meant for expert-style gameplay, giving the player a new spin on the challenges provided by Botania, by requiring them not just to automate the feeding of generating flowers, but the crafting and placing of them as well.
This idea is taken from u/scratchisthebest's mod 1.12.2 mod Botania Tweaks, which has an identical config setting.

"Hard Mode" Flower Limits

Enabling this option makes it so that one player can only ever have one of a particular type of generating flower active in a world. This is meant for expert-style gameplay, by encouraging the player to deviate from designing a system that uses Endoflames spammed everywhere, but instead to diversify their mana generation across all the different types of flowers. Perhaps the limit shouldn't be directly 1:1 for each type, but instead X:Y, where X is the flower and Y is the amount of mana produced by the flower. So Hydroangeas could be limited to 12, Endoflames 8, etc. I think a good way to choose a number would be to look at the amount of flowers necessary to get a regular mana spreader firing bursts 100% of the time.

"Hard Mode" Replace Dispenser Mechanics with Livingwood Avatar

This one is a bit of a stretch, but enabling this option makes it so that all of the Botania-specific dispenser interactions get disabled and are re-enabled in the Livingwood Avatar. So, things like bottling Ender Air, placing crops on farmland, using a Wand of the Forest to bind blocks, activating certain machines, floral obedience stick use, spark placing etc. now become a lot harder to do, because they are all interactions that will now require mana to perform. This is intended for extremely expert style gameplay, further incentivizing the player to really boost their mana production rates in order to get work done, in addition to managing the logistics of feeding the Avatar the items it needs to use to perform meaningful actions.

A Passion Project
Advanced-Kind was envisioned by Minecraft-Towny veterans. We have lofty ambitions to make meaningful improvements to the tired multiplayer formula of SMP-Towny. This is a passion project for us. Resources are limited, so while you won’t find the flashiest features such as layered NPC quests or custom textures, we will keep the experience balanced and as polished as possible.
Features:
We have lots of features and most of them are explained thru our in-game NPC tutorials. However, we have tried, whenever possible, to give players the chance to skip them so no one has to bother with a feature they don't enjoy.
Rules:
1-Be respectful to other players and Staff.
2-Only use English in General chat and when talking with Staff.
3-Do not engage in toxicity or trolling. In any chat.
4-Do not spam general chats.
5-Do not advertise other Minecraft servers, Discords, and/or websites.
6-Cheating is not allowed. Modified clients that provide any sort of advantage are not allowed. Mods and texture packs such as X-Ray are not allowed. (Optifine is allowed)
7-Do not use exploits. Whether from Vanilla Minecraft or specific to ADK, they are not allowed.
8-AFK farming and client automation are not allowed.
9-Do not exchange IRL money for in-game items, currency or services.
10-Griefing is not allowed in the wild. You're not allowed to destroy terrain around a town with the objective of making it ugly.
11-You're not allowed to claimblock or destroy the terrain outside of other towns.
12-Terraforming is allowed, however, excessive terrain destruction is not.
13-Follow Staff indications when required.

Gaming Suggestion: Your favorite Construction Game?

Hey all,
As an automotive prototyping/concept car engineer i really have a real preference to construct different machines or vehicles in Computer Games.
  1. Main Assembly (Steam) : This is currently my hidden favorite.

How to actually contact Jagex customer support [In-Depth Guide]

It's easy - you don't.
Or do you? The goal of this post is to provide a straightforward guide which maximizes your chances of actually reaching a real Jagex moderator reading your message.
I'll be as straightforward as possible - the support center is unintuitive and understaffed. There are many posts in this subreddit about users unable to find how to message the support team. Even if you do manage to reach them, you can never be fully sure if/when they might get back to you.
Some of the popular community sentiments from Reddit have included:
"Jagex's customer service has ranged from "Really Bad" to "Nonexistent""
"It's sad that players have to resort to front-page reddit attention for genuine issues which should be solved via the ticket system, but cannot currently be done so. But that is 100% how it is."
"... even Gold buying/selling websites have better customer support than Jagex."
The aim of this guide is to make it easier for you to get the answers you deserve, and to make a complex system a bit more clear.

1. Does Jagex even have a support team?

You might not expect the answer... but yes.
A post from 2017 by Mod Kelvin mentions that "We're a small team of 32 (which also encompasses anti-cheating, community safety, out of hours bug reports and system monitoring, as well as customer support)".
Although I do not have a more recent figure, I expect the number to have grown by now at least by some amount.

2. How does the support backend operate?

Jagex uses a support desk software called Zendesk. I've used it in professional capacity myself before, and it's an insanely good software.
For those particularly curious, you can check Zendesk functionality in this 2-min product video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2tu2G5MYH4
The software helps assign all tickets to their relevant category, and to make it as simple as possible for the support agent to resolve it. (including features like pre-written macros and filtering)
Although it's not possible to know for certain, I imagine the main categories of ticket types would include the following:
  • Account recovery and login issues
  • Billing and membership
  • Ban appeals
  • Technical support
Ingame abuse reports might work with a different system and not be included in Zendesk.

3. How do I reach the support team?

If it's urgent, you're probably out of luck. Desperately try posting on Reddit and Twitter and hope your issue picks up traction.
If it's not urgent, find the best place to make your support ticket and patiently wait. By using the optimal form you make it easier for the support agents to address your issue, so it is very highly recommended to do so.
However, the Support Center is designed to reduce the amount of tickets as much as possible and instead leads you to a Q&A page whenever possible. For that reason, I'll share as many of the links as possible that actually allow you to create a real ticket.
Here's the full list of links that I've prepared:
  • Account recovery and login issues
Hijacked account - Response ETA: Up to 24 hours
Changing your registered email - Response ETA: Up to 24 hours
My account is locked - Response ETA: Up to 24 hours
Denied Password Resets - Response ETA: Up to 24 hours

Request a Refund - Response ETA: Up to 48 hours
Transfer Bonds - Response ETA: Up to 48 hours

By submitting the ticket in the correct section, it goes in the queue of the the Jagex support employees working specifically on that type of tickets.

4. I submitted a ticket. What happens now?

All submitted tickets are assigned to a category depending on which support center page they were submitted from. If a ticket was sent to the wrong place, agents will move it to end up at the correct place.
Once submitted, most tickets are handled on a first-come-first-serve basis. However, agents also have the option to put more complex tickets "on hold", if they need a longer amount of time to look into the issue. (for example, getting a senior specialist to help review the matter)
If you're certain you've provided all of the required information, you can simply patiently wait until they're able to respond to your ticket. If you forgot to specify any important detail, you can still add it to the ticket by responding to the automated support ticket email.

5. I never received a reply!

If it has been a really long time, e.g. 30+ days, you can consider submitting a new ticket. The same goes if the Jagex Mod replying to your ticket misunderstood your question and didn't provide a satisfactory answer.
Usually this shouldn't happen, but support desk employees go through large volumes of tickets each day and it's possible they can make a mistake.
It's best to be understanding. You can also ping @JagexSupport on Twitter with your ticket number, and a different support team employee might take a look at it.

6. Can I reach Jagex Support on Twitter?

Short answer - yes. However, for dealing with any sensitive account matters, it will still have to be handled in a ticket.
Tweeting @JagexSupport actually creates a Zendesk ticket for them, so it can be a viable channel to reach a Jagex employee. However, they will typically only provide you publicly available information and links to where you can submit a ticket. Sort of similar to what I've done in this post.

7. Great! I understand the system. I'm still dissatisfied and would like it to be better.

As would I.
However - if more players start submitting support tickets, it creates a pressure on Jagex to expand their support team.
If your ticket takes a significantly long time to be resolved, it means that Jagex has insufficient capacity in that particular division. But while this might not feel ideal, it's also a metric than be very clearly seen in the Zendesk administrative side. (amount of actively unsolved tickets & average time for ticket solve) The Jagex Support team leads would then be able to use that information to (hopefully) convince upper management to add more support staff members.
Simply put - if the users make support tickets, they are pressured to hire enough staff to resolve them.
So, Jess - why did you write a 10000 char essay about Runescape support?
I uh... I'm a support main!? But honestly, more than any money making guide or skilling guide - I think a customer support guide actually has enormous value for the community. I feel someone had to do it, and as I've also had customer support experience myself (using Zendesk as well) I have a pretty good idea of how they might operate.
I hope you found this guide on the inner workings of Runescape/OSRS support system insightful. If there's any part I forgot to mention, feel free to let me know and I'd be glad to adjust it.
tl;dr - If it's urgent, make a ticket & post on Reddit/Twitter to desperately get someone to escalate it asap. If it's not urgent, make a ticket and patiently wait for an answer. Links & info are in guide to make it easy for you.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you found it insightful. :)

Tips to make manual exploration less of a chore?

I’ve used auto-explore in 4X games ever since it became an option. Civ 1 didn’t have it, but I think 2 did (I remember it got automated Workers in a post-release patch), and I’ve definitely used them since Civ 4.
Same in Stellaris, as soon as I unlock the Tech for Auto-Explore I click the button (except I use a mod that makes AU available from the start).
Autonated exploration worked very well in Civ 4 and 5 (and in Stellaris), but in 6 my Scouts, Skirmishers and Galleys too often run into Barbarians and so find themselves alone against dangerous foes. When that happens I look around the map but the nearest other Recon or Naval is at best 5 turns away and often 8, 10 or 12 or more, which sucks, because if I had just 2 such units travelling together I could spank those Barbarians swiftly by using the Flank/Support bonuses.
I’d like to wean myself of AU in Civ 6, but it just feels like such a chore.
Any tips for making it less chore-like, more fun?

The max out challenge - 125$ prize pool

The max out challenge - 125$ prize pool
A few days ago, I created this post about what's the fastest possible 200 pop and offered 25$ to the best possible time with any race :
https://www.reddit.com/starcraft/comments/kje4mc/funny_christmas_contest_the_fastest_possible_200/.
Thanks to SoundSelection, the prize pool is now raised to 125 $, so I thought it would be better to make another post with more detailed rules and explanations about this challenge :)
So, what is this challenge ?
The goal is simple : max out your population as fast as possibleYou have to reach 200 pop however you want, with a classic 1v1 map
Rules and conditions :
  • LotV
  • You have to use one of the current 1v1 ladder map without any modification (no map mod allowed). Regarding the current servers situation, if you struggle to create a lobby you can load a replay from any of your previous ladder game and use the "resume replay" function.
  • It can be done alone or with an AI.- Archon (2-4 players) is allowed, but you'll have to split the prize if you win something.
  • Max out is when the the population counter reach 200 and no unit is still producing (units still warping/in eggs/in the production tab are not considered finisehd).
  • You can play with the speed game you want. turn out the time is not automatically converted as I thought It was, so game speed have to be the default one (faster).I might do an error if I try to convert with another time factor, so we'll keep it like this.
  • You can resume your replay from a previous point in order to optimize it as much as you want.
  • This is a non TAS (tool-assisted speedrun) challenge, which mean you cannot use any third-party software to automate certain parts of your run.
  • You can try/submit replays as much as you want.
Prize pool repartition :
  • Best time overall : 50 $
  • Best time per race : 15$
  • 2nd place per race : 10$
  • 3rd place per race : One coop commandeannouncer or 5$
(note : if you have the best time overall, you won't win 50 + 15 $)
How can I submit my replay ?
You can use this gform : https://forms.gle/roQS5EF3E2TFjybC9
Or DM me directly on Discord : NeWHoriZonS#9999
How do I locate my replay file ?
Ingame you have to click here in the replays section in order to access your local replay folder

https://preview.redd.it/ppfcjzn794861.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=63fd65f8d6f119b67b76ae31420eea92bf76a9b6
Where can I see the current best times ?
You can see the leaderboard here : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MhvoZ1_i8GxziUqJk20db_PvjTuSSCT8NfIoPuMmiZs/edit?usp=sharing
Note : This is a new leaderboard, the previous one won't be used anymore
How can I watch the replays ?
I'll upload the best times once the contest is over, but for now they are private
When does it end ?
I've decided to extend the deadline by one week, so you have until the 7 of January 23:59 CET to submit your replay.
Good luck to everyone, and happy new year :)

Army of Spies DApp Project on Cardano

Hi Everybody, [Long post ahead. So read at your own peril. tl;dr for the project below.]
We are the people behind the Army of Spies DApp proposal currently in Catalyst Fund 3. We're longtime Cardano super fanatics. We're hoping that we're going to get really good feedback on our project in Catalyst. But, we also want to reach out to the rest of the Cardano Community who might not be actively perusing the projects in the Catalyst Fund 3. Mods, please let me know if this somehow shouldn't be posted here. Anyway, I'm going to post our proposal and plan below. We would love any and all feedback that anyone could provide. Obviously, there are monetary grants involved in Catalyst. But, we are actually just as excited for our little project just to see the light of day after working on it for so long. Our first draft of the whitepaper for this project was way back in Early 2018. We've put a ton of thought and effort into it since then including many drafts of the smart contract which is currently in Marlowe. We are slowly learning as we go. We also know our little project has a long way still to progress. So, we'd love any and all feedback if people here would be willing to give it a look. Obviously, we're editing this and making changes as we go. So this is all subject to change and revision.
Army of Spies
“...but at the length truth will out.”
William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice
tl;dr
Army of Spies is a Cardano based non-fungible native token product that creates a compensated “Curator” role in a smart contract powered marketplace that brokers obscure, or difficult to acquire, information. Blockchain derived finality and permanence of Curator role ownership will drive decentralized market growth via the efforts of each newly minted Curator. Army of Spies ultimately serves a public good as a decentralized public blockchain-based approach to the efficient allocation of information resources and erasure of non-mandatory information asymmetries powered by crowdsourced and bounty-based information discovery. The obscure, or difficult to acquire, information addressed by Army of Spies typically falls outside the reach of traditional blockchain oracle providers.

Philosophy & Use Case
Our modern world, albeit drastically transformed by the internet over the last decades, is still a world of secrets and information asymmetry. Some secrets are necessary. Some are not. Among the unnecessary secrets are three broad categories of obscure or difficult to acquire information (“ODAI”): 1) information that someone doesn’t want revealed but has no legal or ethical right to protect, 2) mundane information that has value but is difficult to acquire, and 3) information that may hold an idiosyncratic value to one person but may still be inconvenient to acquire. These types of ODAI typically fall outside the grasp of traditional blockchain oracle providers. Let’s first describe these three categories of ODAI.
1) Information Someone Doesn’t Want Revealed
You don’t need to know the launch codes to the nuclear weapon arsenal of your favorite superpower. But, you do need to know if your elected officials are taking bribes from foreign corporate interests. It’s probably not okay for you to have the gate code to Taylor Swift’s estate. But, it’s probably okay for you to know the real identity of the land developer secretly buying up all the parcels of land on the same block as the corner store owned by your family. Some secrets are necessary. But, information is a valuable resource and its efficient allocation is generally a net positive for the progress of a technologically based society. In the case of those bits of information that are not mandatory secrets, the hidden hand of the market should guide disclosure. The whistleblower should be rewarded for telling the world that the politician is corrupt, and watchdog groups will gladly raise funds to secure the disclosure of that information. Someone who sees Kit Harington with long hair on the streets of London should be able to accept a reward for that information from a Game of Thrones superfan on the other side of the world. The shop owner should be able to ask if anyone can identify the looter on his security cameras who stole the inventory that cost his or her life savings. The peaceful side lines protester should be able to ask if anyone can identify the person who permanently blinded her with a traffic cone recklessly thrown at her head. A small time merchant should have a means to discover if the real buyer behind the strawman offer they just received was actually from their biggest competitor or from a random individual.
2) Mundane Information that is Difficult to Acquire
There are also less sensational more day-to-day categories of mundane information that might be valuable but difficult, costly, or inconvenient to acquire in isolation: you might want to know how long the line is at your favorite bar on Friday night at 10pm, but it might not be convenient to drive all the way downtown to find out. You might want to know if there are a lot of girls or guys at the bar, but you might know that you can’t trust the hostess on the other end of the phone line when you call the bar. You might be willing to pay a small fee to know exactly what size fly professional fishing guides are using on a trout stream near your hotel, but you might be unwilling to pay for a day of guiding that would normally be the entry point for that disclosure. The purchaser of a vintage motorcycle should be able to find out the old-timer secrets about what brand and type of modern oil contains the right additives for his engine without spending days combing through old Reddit posts. You might really need to know how much it costs to hire an experienced cardano smart contract developer. But, you might realize that you can’t trust the answers you get on Reddit.
3) Information that holds Ideosyncratic Value and is Simultaneously Inconvenient to Acquire
There might also be information that is only valuable to you but still inconvenient to acquire. You might want to know if your significant other is really at the gym with his friends or at the bar by his office with that one woman he works with. It might be valuable to understand if the cute barista who works at your local Starbucks on Monday mornings flirts with everyone to feed the tip jar or if she is actually just after you.
For a small reward, any intrepid bar goer will gladly shoot you a pic or video of the line out front, the crowd inside, or of your significant other in the corner with his beautiful coworker. The college student who lives a block away will gladly go see if your significant other’s car is parked in front of the apartment of a female “friend” for a small bounty. The trout guide can make a few quick bucks by disclosing what size of fly to use, and you can get that isolated bit of information without buying a whole day of guiding. Someone who has owned your make and model of vintage motorcycle for decades will gladly give up their favorite oil for a few bucks. Someone who recently had their family’s property purchased by a certain land developer will happily tell you how much the land developer paid per acre if there is compensation for that information.
Would this level of availability of information be a tidal shift for modern society? Maybe. Is it probably inevitable over a long enough timeline given that there is a hi def video camera in every pocket? Yes. In the future, there will be no more secrets. You WON’T be able to park in front of your mistress’s house anymore. But, you WILL be able to get verifiable insider information on how much that land developer is really willing to pay your family. We’ll all just have to adjust our behavior to conform to a world with greater transparency. The only question is how we manage and allocate that information discovery and transparency. Army of Spies is a project aimed squarely at efficient market based allocation of information resources via the creation of a decentralized public blockchain-based global marketplace for information transactions. Army of Spies will not aim to facilitate any information transactions that might constitute, encourage, or aid criminal activity, illegal political espionage, illegal corporate espionage, or any other information transaction deemed illegal by U.S or European authorities. But, Army of Spies does aim to facilitate the erasure of non-mandatory information asymmetries.
Why Can’t Traditional Blockchain Oracles Provide ODAI Efficiently?
Oracle providers in the blockchain space have created wonderful projects like Chainlink and Ergo to provide a bridge between real world data and the blockchain world. However, these Oracle solutions are more appropriate for reaching readily available public information such as crypto prices, the weather, and who won the latest sporting event. When it comes to ODAI, there may only be a handful of people in the world with access to the ODAI. How many people have caught fish on your favorite stretch of your favorite river in the last few weeks since the temperature changed and know exactly what fly to use? How many people are in that club right now where you think your significant other is hanging out with their ex? How many people hold information about exactly which modern oil will not hurt the engine of your particular make and model of vintage motorcycle over the course of 100k miles? It also isn’t predictable who will hold ODAI and be able to provide it at the right time and how long it will take to identify someone who does have the ODAI.
Oracles and oracle pools can be easily constructed and operate efficiently where it is predictable where information will reside. An oracle who will provide data about who won the MMA fight on Saturday night can be easily identified ahead of time and incentivized to provide that answer. However, the ultimate best provider of ODAI is often comparatively unpredictable and is best identified through a highly decentralized bounty and curation model as used in Army of Spies. Being a traditional blockchain Oracle is a job undertaken as a routinized future information processing task. The provider of ODAI just happens to already have that information or just happens to be in a position to acquire it more easily than others. The magic of Army of Spies lies in efficiently creating an exchange of value between that person and someone willing to pay for the ODAI and curating possible multiple competing sources of that ODAI.
Why does Army of Spies Require Crypto?
Army of Spies is a crypto-mandatory project in that erasure of information asymmetry can only be carried out via a broadly decentralized system. This manifests itself in three broad themes.
1) Lack of centralized data storage is vital to avoidance of death by regulation. Parties seeking erasure of information asymmetry of any kind may easily find themselves in an adversarial relationship with state actors wielding the regulatory hammer. Such parties ultimately live under threat of seizure and shut down of their centralized data storage and processing. Just as cryptocurrency has only survived regulatory fatality via decentralization, so shall Army of Spies.
2) User confidence in Army of Spies is only be possible where there is no centralized data to be discovered by adverse parties. Private entities holding user data are regularly subpoened for such data by state actors. Centralized user data storage is also subject to the illicit acquisition of user data by bad actors through security exploits. In our modern litigious society, users also face completely legal discovery of their data via litigation by other private parties. Centralized servers are especially vulnerable to all three of these threats to user data. These combined weaknesses of centralized data storage mean that a system for transactions in obscure information can only operate efficiently on a decentralized basis.
3) Finally, adoption of the platform will not take hold if there is a chance the financial side of the information transaction could be reversed once the info is already conveyed. You can’t take back info you have already delivered to someone’s brain if they cancel their payment for that info after delivery. Immutability is king in transactions that remove information asymmetries. There needs to be a guarantee that the compensation will be delivered once the information is revealed.
The Army of Spies User Experience
Let’s get into the gritty details of how Army of Spies will actually work from the user perspective.
The Intel
As a user, you will decide that you want to know a secret (the “Intel”). This secret might be what size caddis fly you should use to catch brown trout on the Weber River this weekend, if your significant other is working or with his or her ex, or what type of modern oil you should really use in your vintage motorcycle.
The Intel Bounty
You will also decide how much that secret is worth to you. This amount (the “Intel Bounty”) is the sum that will go to the person providing you with the answer to your question. You will go to the Army of Spies website (www.armyofspies.net) which will list all the different topical categories under which your secret might fall (the “Intel Categories”). You will select the most appropriate Intel Category for seeking the Intel.
In eventual iterations of the website there may also be information listed about the particular curator (the “Curator”) of that Intel Category. There could be ratings and reviews of that Curator along with the number of successful Intel Bounties the Curator has completed, how quickly they are completed on average, and the average size in USD or ADA of the Intel Bounties completed by that Curator.
Once you have selected your preference as to a particular Intel Category, you will click on a link to navigate to the forum set up by the Curator for that Intel Category. You will be the person creating this particular Intel Bounty (the “Bounty Maker”). The forum setup by the Curator of the chosen Intel Category (the “Curation Forum”) will display the address of the smart contract (the “Smart Contract”) related to that Intel Category and Curator. You will send your Intel Bounty there in the chosen amount of ADA. You will then post your description of the Intel you are seeking (the “Intel Request”), the amount of the Intel Bounty you sent to the Smart Contract, and the ADA address from which you sent the Intel Bounty (for matching purposes). The Curator of that Intel Category will then confirm (using the ADA address you posted) that the stated Intel Bounty has actually been sent to the Smart Contract. This is where the Intel Source begins their work.
The Intel Source
Someone who knows the secret you are trying to uncover (an “Intel Source”) will then see your Intel Request and the Intel Bounty offered in the Curator’s Forum. The Intel Source will then post their proposed response to the Intel (the “Proposed Intel Response”) along with their ADA address. Their Proposed Intel Response and your Intel Request, will always be visible to everyone. There might also be other Proposed Intel Responses provided by other Intel Sources and they will also be visible to everyone. Not creating an “only the Bounty Maker can see the answers” architecture is intentional and probably key to adoption. New users will want to see the quality of Intel being provided before committing to pay a bounty for Intel in the same Intel Category.
The Curation Bounty
The Curator will be the ultimate judge and jury of which Intel Source wins the Intel Bounty (the “Winning Intel Source”). The Curator will also receive a share of the Intel Bounty (the “Curation Bounty”) equal to 10% of the Intel Bounty. The Curator will also act as moderator of the Curation Forum. The Curator will decide how long the Intel Bounty remains open and how many Intel Sources will be allowed to provide Proposed Intel Responses. The Curator will be able to promote his or her particular Curation Forum in whatever manner they wish. The Curator will also be strongly incentivized to provide a good experience to both Bounty Makers and Intel Sources alike since both will, in eventual iterations of the Army of Spies website, be able to review and rate the Curator for other Bounty Makers and Intel Sources to see. This same rating and review system will create a large disincentive for Curators to wrongly award Intel Bounties to undeserving Intel Sources or strawman sock puppet Intel Sources. This will discourage both dishonest curation and negligent curation by Curators. If either is happening, reviews and ratings will be negative and Bounty Makers and Intel Sources will just go to similar topical categories with better curation.
How Does One Become a Curator?
The Army of Spies website will sell non-fungible Cardano based tokens (“Curator NFTs”) corresponding to each Intel Category. The holder of the Curator NFT for each Intel Category will officially be the Curator of that Intel Category. The Smart Contract for each Intel Category will reference the Curator as whoever controls the address currently holding the relevant Curator NFT. So, the Curator position for each Intel Category will be easily transferable with the disposition of the relevant Curator NFT. Anyone seeking to buy a Curator NFT will simply search the Intel Category catalogue on the Army of Spies website. If the proposed Intel Category is not already taken or filtered as illegal by Army of Spies, the prospective Curator will be able to buy the desired Curator NFT. In the minimum viable product version of Army of Spies this will likely be done by contacting Army of Spies through the Army of Spies website and sending the prescribed amount of ADA for that Intel Category. In later iterations of Army of Spies, it is hoped that a more decentralized Smart Contract based purchase method will be developed.
The Intel Category corresponding to the Curator NFT will be strictly defined by the exact letters and numbers chosen by the prospective Curator as the name for the Intel Category. One person might choose to establish an Intel Category for “Tamarindo, Costa Rica Land Developers” while another might choose to establish an Intel Category for “Land Developers in Tamarindo, Costa Rica”. Both Intel Categories will be allowed and will correspond to different Curator NFTs that may be held by entirely different Curators. Both Intel Categories will appear in the list of topical categories on the Army of Spies website.
Upon purchase, the holder of the newly minted Curator NFT will be able to direct the link for that Intel Category to the Curation Forum setup by that particular Curator. Curators may choose to setup any type of forum they choose. This may be their own Subreddit, a self-hosted forum on a stand-alone website, or any other forum of their choice. It would be easy enough for Army of Spies to run centralized forums hosted on a controlled server. But, this would create a single centralized choke point that could be shut off by regulators and destroy the decentralized resilience of Army of Spies. Curators will also be able to promote their Curation Forum in any manner they want.
The Bounty to the Winning Intel Source
The Winning Intel Source would, of course, receive the remainder of the Intel Bounty which would be the Intel Bounty minus the Curation Bounty (i.e. 90% of the Intel Bounty).
Credentials and Evidence
Intel Sources may choose to bolster the strength of their Proposed Intel Response by providing evidence of credentials that would establish the veracity of their Proposed Intel Response. These credentials could be proof of education (e.g. here’s my diploma supporting that I’m an entomologist who knows what size flies are actually on the river right now), proof of expertise (e.g. here’s my Facebook account proving I’m a fishing guide who works on the Weber River every summer), or proof of experience (e.g. I’m not an expert on fishing but here’s a VLOG I did yesterday while catching a fish on the Weber River) .
In some cases, it may be more appropriate for Intel Sources to provide direct evidence of the Proposed Intel Response instead of credential based support for their answer. For example, the Bounty Maker who wants to know if her significant other is hanging out with his ex in a certain bar would probably happily accept a photo or video of her significant other furnished by an Intel Source. Likewise, the Bounty Maker who wants to know the length of the line in front of Bar X right now would probably prefer a video of the Intel Source in front of that line providing some proof of date and time as opposed to any Intel Source’s credentials as a bar line expert.
Credential and Evidence Challenges
In some cases, Curators may also wish to challenge the validity of any credentials offered by Intel Sources (e.g. that is not really your facebook account because I know of that guy) or any evidence furnished by the Intel Source (e.g. that wasn’t the line in front of Bar X tonight...that was Tuesday night...I know because the sign says 99 cent tacos and their website says that only happens on Tuesdays. Eventual iterations of Army of Spies, could even allow for Bounty Makers to offer an additional bounty (a “Credential Challenge Bounty”) for a Curator to disprove the credentials of an Intel Source.
Blacklisted Bounties
Army of Spies will not aim to facilitate any information transactions that might constitute, encourage, or aid criminal activity, terrorism, human rights violations, political espionage, or corporate espionage. To moderate these types of transactions in a decentralized system like Army of Spies, the Curator will have the ability to designate any Intel Bounty as a “Blacklisted Intel Bounty”. In such a case, the Intel Bounty will be returned to the Bounty Maker and the Intel Bounty and Bounty Maker will be moderated out of the Intel Category forum. If any Curator is refusing to designate illegal bounties as Blacklisted Intel Bounties, those elections will be reflected in the eventual ratings and reviews on the Army of Spies website and law abiding users will be able to avoid the topical categories controlled by such Curators.
Smart Contract & Curator NFT Architecture Considerations
At its core, Army of Spies will be run via Smart Contracts corresponding to each Intel Category. The initial intellectually tidy impulse would be to make every Intel Bounty its own smart contract. However, the rigor of constant automated Smart Contract generation for each new Intel Bounty in a distributed computing environment probably precludes such a scenario. Current thoughts revolve around a strategy of a single Smart Contract with inputs for each Intel Bounty creation and outputs for each Winning Intel Source and relevant Curator. Of course, this could create a significant “involuntary bug bounty” equivalent to the value of all Intel Bounties currently offered and residing in the smart contract. Initially, this risk can be mitigated by limiting the amount of any Intel Bounty to an amount of ADA equivalent to a low value such as $20. The Curator NFTs are planned to be created via the minting policy instructions laid out at:
https://developers.cardano.org/en/development-environments/native-tokens/how-to-use-multi-asset-tokens-in-the-cardano-node/.
Basic Adoption Strategy
The Army of Spies adoption strategy will be akin to that used by other NFT projects such as Unstoppable Domains and Decentraland. The buyers of the NFTs providing access to build on the ecosystem will also be the initial users of the assets built on the ecosystem. For example, a quick web search for news regarding Unstoppable Domains shows it has sold hundreds of thousands of NFTs corresponding to blockchain based domains in the last few years of its operations. Thousands of actual websites have been built on these domains. However, actual user demand to peruse these websites would probably be extremely scant if you didn’t count users who came into the ecosystem because they bought one of the NFTs corresponding to a domain or were considering it. People buy access to build on the ecosystem or at least to speculate on the NFT granting that right. Those same people then become the initial users of the things built on the ecosystem.
This could be seen of Decentraland on its initial launch as well. How many users were wondering around the Decentraland map on launch day who didn’t own some kind of NFT related to the project or weren’t at least taking a peek to decide if they should speculate on a LAND or an NFT based username or etc? We can only guess. But, probably not a gigantic percentage. The initial users were largely NFT owners or people deciding if they should buy an NFT related to the project. This usage of the project then drives more purchases of the various NFTs in the project (from hats, to usernames, to LANDS, to Estates) which then drives more usage which then drives more NFT purchases in a beautiful self-reinforcing cycle.
Army of Spies will be the same. Purchases of the Curator NFTs will be the spark that ignites the combustion that initially pushes the pistons. Whether purchasers are planning to build out an actual Curation Forum or just speculating on the NFT to sell it at a higher price down the road, those purchasers will likely also be the initial Bounty Makers and Intel Sources using Army of Spies.
To kick off this self-reinforcing cycle, Army of Spies could be marketed on an incremental grass roots basis by making simple organic explainer posts, one Subreddit at a time, in all types of topical Subreddits. These explainer posts would be tailored to each subreddit and describe how, for example, anyone in the “Porsche 911” subreddit could simply purchase the Curator NFT for “Porsche 911” and turn their interest and knowledge of the topic into a possible money making venture. Someone in the “Denver” subreddit might want to purchase the “LoDo Denver Bars” Curator NFT and curate bounties related to things happening in those bars.
Initial purchasers of the Curator NFTs will be making the acquisition as an investment in future access to the ecosystem. This future access characteristic of the purchase along with the decentralized ethos of the crypto space is likely to weigh in favor of an acceptance of the premise that Curators should host their own Curation Forums instead of some more centralized architecture.
Acceptance of this “do-it-yourself” approach is already exhibited by buyers of Decentraland Lands who would possibly have to build something on their lands and by Unstoppable Domains customers who would have to build out websites on top of their decentralized URLs. These purchasers are buying a piece of finite access to the ecosystem on a bet that the ecosystem will develop into something more or that someone will use that finite access to build something on that purchaser’s piece of the ecosystem. In the crypto/blockchain space these types of NFT products are actually a very attractive value proposition in that they present an already functioning consumer crypto product in an endless sea of thousands of blockchain coin products that only purport to one day serve as the rails on which functioning products would operate. Army of Spies will present the same value proposition in that a purchaser of a Curator NFT will be able to immediately set up their own forum and start trying to drive traffic there (in addition to whatever traffic they receive from the Army of Spies website) or they can simply hodl the Curator NFT until the ecosystem develops. You see many examples of both strategies with Decentraland “LANDS” NFT holders and Unstoppable Domain URL holders today.

A Look Forward to a Potential Army of Spies 2.0
A Potential Future Army of Spies 2.0 with More Decentralized Curation within Topical Categories
The original vision for Army of Spies involved curation voting and curation staking by multiple curators even within a single Intel Category. Attempts were even made to model out this architecture in Marlowe. Eventually, the vision of the NFT Curator as detailed above won the day for Army of Spies 1.0. However, the original vision of curation voting and curation staking will be excerpted here for conceptual background on possible future deployment in an Army of Spies 2.0 evolution.
The Potential Army of Spies 2.0 Decentralized Curation Bounty & Curation Staking
In this model, there will be no NFT based curator, and other regular users perusing the forums (the “Curators”) will be allowed to vote on whether or not the intel provided is sufficient. Only an Intel Source receiving enough votes (a “Winning Intel Source”) will win his share of the Intel Bounty. The Curators will also receive a share of the Intel Bounty (the “Curation Bounty”) equal to 10% of the Intel Bounty for voting for the correct answer. To avoid the problem of straw man curators (i.e. an Intel Source creating a second, or third, or nth account to vote for his own intel even when it is obviously not sufficient to be the bounty winning intel), each Curator will be required to stake 1% of the Intel Bounty in order to vote (the “Curation Stake”). Curators who vote for an answer that does not get sufficient votes (the “Losing Curators”) will have their Curation Stake slashed. Curation Stake slashing will involve forfeiture of the Curation Stake and transfer of such stake to the Bounty Maker in majority with a small sliver going to AOS. Each Winning Curator will receive a share of the Curation Bounty equal to the Curation Bounty divided by the number of Winning Curators plus a return of their Curation Stake. In other words a Winning Curator can expect to receive a sum equal to the Intel Bounty divided by the number that is equal to the product of 10 multiplied by the number of Winning Curators. Such Winning Curator will also see a redemption of their Curation stake (which we have already defined above as 1% of the Intel Bounty). Let’s go back to our example of the fishing question and the 100 unit Intel Bounty. If there were five Winning Curators, the sum due to each Curator would be:
10 units/ 5 Winning Curators
= 2 units reward per Winning Curator
+ 1 unit as the return of their Curation Stake
= 3 units.
In order to further mitigate strawman curation, there will also be a second round of curation voting where no stake will be required. This second round will only happen when an Intel Source has already passed the first round. This round of curation voting will subject any strawman curators to the tyranny of the crowd. Here we will be leveraging outrage culture. If anything is true of the online landscape today, it is that people love to call other people out for breaking the rules. So, we will allow a larger number of people to vote in this second round and they will not be required to put up a stake to do so. In this “tyranny of the crowd round”, the voters will only be allowed to vote against the result obtained in the first round. Since the second round only happens if an Intel Source passes the first round, this means that in the second round, votes can only be cast against the particular Intel Source.
If dishonest curation is still occuring under this system, the Curation Stake could also always be increased until an optimum balance is struck between deterrence of dishonest curation and participation in curation.
So, in summary, curation voting will look like this:
  1. a first round of staked curation voting;
  2. if the Intel Source doesn’t receive sufficient votes in the first round, that Intel Source has lost and is out;
  3. if the Intel Source does receive sufficient votes in the first round, he or she progresses to the second round;
  4. this second “tyranny of the crowd” round will be unstaked and votes can only be cast AGAINST the particular Intel Source; and
  5. the Intel Source has reached the finish line and will collect the Intel Bounty if there are not sufficient votes against the Intel Source in the second round.
Army of Spies 2.0 Curation and Intel Provision Rankings
In order to further incentivise honest curation, the AOS platform could eventually also display the number of times any given Curator has been a Winning Curator along with the number of times that Curator has been a Losing Curator. Likewise, all Intel Sources will have a ranking showing how many times they have been a Winning Intel Source and the number of times they have been an Intel Source who did not get the highest number of curation votes (a “Losing Intel Source”). These rankings will be shown to other users giving curation votes so that they can take into account the credibility of the Intel Source and the other Curators voting for a particular Intel Source.
Army of Spies 2.0 Blacklisted Transactions Bounties
Army of Spies will not facilitate any information transactions that might constitute, encourage, or aid criminal activity, terrorism, human rights violations, political espionage, or corporate espionage. To moderate these types of transactions in a decentralized system like Army of Spies, there will have to be a bounty for identification of any “Blacklisted Intel Bounty” to incentivise Curators to flag such Intel Bounties. To avoid the strawman curator issue with such Blacklisted Intel Bounties (i.e. the Bounty Maker creating sock puppets to get an illegitimate Intel Bounty past the Blacklist Curation), the Curator who wins the bounty for flagging a Blacklisted Intel Bounty (a “Successful Blacklister”) will be randomly selected from the whole cohort of Curators who vote for the flagging of any particular Intel Bounty. The Blacklist Voting will also involve a “tyranny of the crowd” vote where an Intel Bounty that has passed the first round of BlackList voting can still be blacklisted by non-staking voters who can only vote against the Intel Bounty but not in favor of it passing. The Blacklisted Intel Bounty will be equivalent to a percentage of the Intel Bounty posted by the Bounty Maker. Another sliver of the Intel Bounty will also be forfeited to AOS. This will mean that the Bounty Maker would forfeit some or all of the offered bounty with no info in return. Flagging of Blacklisted Intel Bounties will require the normal Curation Stake of 1% of the Intel Bounty. The Curation Stake of Curators who attempt to dishonestly or inaccurately identify a Blacklisted Intel Bounty (i.e they voted to Blacklist but the group decided otherwise) would then go to the Bounty Maker with a sliver going to Army of Spies..
Proposed Utilization of Funds
Any funds awarded to Army of Spies in Project Catalyst Fund 3 will be used to procure the services of devolopers who can assist with smart contract development, the NFT minting policy, web development, and the overarching architecture connecting all the pieces. While the current team has been dabbling in Marlowe (and a tiny bit in Plutus) for the last few years, they would like to benefit from the expertise of someone close to IOHK or Emurgo or otherwise qualified to tell them what they are missing and help solve the inevitable problems that will be discovered. The Fortune 500 procurement experience of one of the current team members is expected to be very valuable in obtaining these services in a timely fashion and at prudent costs.
Roadmap
Milestone 1
-Refine Curator NFT Concept and Marlowe smart contract.
-Refine architecture for the interaction of the various roles with the Marlowe contract.
-Procure services of developers to fill any missing gaps between NFT minting policy, smart contract, and website.
Milestone 2
-Buildout AOS website with: 1) functionality for NFT Sales; 2) catalogue of topical categories; and 3) explainer and other marketing content.
-Begin Curator recruitment by using organic Subreddit by Subreddit posts.
Milestone 3
-Slowly bootstrap adoption by focusing on Curator recruitment, one subreddit at a time.
-Market directly in any and all suitable subreddits for potential Curators matching that topical interest category.
