Varus/Valgus Wedges 6° & 9° Used for pronation or suppination problems of the foot and ankle. Wedges are designed to help align the calcaneus (heel) during ambulation to limit excessive pronation or suppination. Varus / valgus heel wedges can be used to reduce pronation and supination by angling the calcaneus (heel bone) either medially or laterally and when standing, walking or running. These heel wedges are very durable and provide either 6 or 9 degrees of correction Heel Varus Below is an illustration of the varying degrees of heel position when view from behind relative to the ground. This can be related to lower-extremity misalignment which can result in painful knees as well as ankles and feet. There has been emphasised the varus forefoot is commoner than generally supposed, but the deformity may not be recognised unless the foot is correctly examined with the heel held square. Once weight is on the foot the obvious deformity is the valgus heel. Physiological causes. The bony arch of the foot is potentially unstable.
